My name is Keila Cantellan! I’m an intern through Health Career Connection and I’m so excited to be at CCAMH for my internship. I’m originally from Arroyo Grande CA, in SLO county. I like to spend time with family and friends, go on walks, and play with my two cats! I recently graduated from UC Santa Cruz, go Banana Slugs! With a degree in Psychology and Global and Community Health. Through my undergraduate experience, I became heavily interested in how the social determinants of health impact mental health and the systems that affect people’s health and well-being! As a first-generation Mexican-American woman I’ve seen how access to quality healthcare is limited and how stigma around mental health continues to impact the well-being of BIPOC youth. My goal this summer is to help create education around imposter syndrome in BIPOC youth and help destigmatize mental health! I can’t wait to learn more about the services offered by CCAMH and be a part of the amazing impact being done!
